This 450sq.km region derives its name from the Gaelic words ’Fine Gall’ or ‘land of the fair haired stranger’ in reference to the Vikings who settled here.

Malahide Castle & Gardens is one of the most popular tourist attractions within the Fingal region of Dublin. If you have some time to spare before your flight or during a layover in Dublin you can take a quick 10 minute car or taxi ride from Maldron Dublin Airport to the castle for a tour or a walk around the beautiful gardens.

The castle is one of the oldest in Ireland, dating back to Medieval times and has been a home to the Talbot family for over 800 years, who lived there right up until 1975!

There are four beautifully preserved reception rooms and bedrooms open to the public, through which you can take a guided tour. See the original period furniture, paintings and ornaments and get a wonderful glimpse into life in the castle, before taking a leisurely stroll through the 22 acres of stunning gardens, home to over 5,000 different types of plants and flowers.
