Malahide Castle and Gardens dates back to the 12th century and lies on over 260 acres of land. Home to the Talbot family for over 800 years, it is located north of Dublin city, and is a colossal attraction for all types of visitors. It has an abundance of heritage and woodlands to appeal the whole family, couple or even solo visitor!
The castle has guided tours that will lead you into the depths of the castle’s long history and heritage that dates back to 1174 – making it one of the oldest castles in all of Ireland. There is an interactive garden exhibition telling the story of the castle’s stunning, botanical walled garden. Great for kids, that can explore the 5,000 different species of plants and animals that live here inside the gardens. Or you can opt to walk the 1.8km fairy trail that will definitely lead you to find something magical all year round.
Malahide castle serves not only as a recreational attraction but also as a venue for concerts. Upcoming events include Snow Patrol, Lana Del Rey and George Ezra. A spectacular and scenic outdoor venue especially for the summer months!
It is accessible by Dublin Bus 42 and 32, or LUAS red line that will drop you a 20-minute walk from the castle and gardens. The castle is located less than 15 minutes by car from Dublin Airport and our Maldron Hotel Dublin Airport.
